The 1940’s was very much the era of ‘make do and mend’ with rationing and a general shortage of suitable clothing materials. Women would recycle old jumpers and use their very competent knitting skills to recreate new items to brighten up their sparse wardrobes.

While sorting through our extensive range of vintage knitting patterns we came across a pattern from the 1940’s for a smart and saucy knitted hat. At Vintage to Vogue we thought it would be fun to ask our lovely knitting lady to use the pattern to recreate this wonderful war time creation.
We think it looks rather splendid – why not pop in the shop and see it for yourself!
