This iconic dress typifys John bates at his best from his late 1960s collection. This collection came after he had designed dresses for Emma Peel on the Avengers

The dress features a navy blue empire bodice from which interwoven blue and red tartan panels cascade giving a full skirt , matched perfectly against the blue bodice is the collar made from the same fabric as the skirt.

The sleeves are set with a slight puff at the shoulder and have zip closures on the cuff.
